I'm looking to buy an oak sideboard which isn't too expensive (up to around 400)

I had been looking at Oakfurnitureland but they seem to have lots of bad reviews now.

Anyone got any recommendations? Thank you.

Try this company:
oakfurniturecollection.co.uk/uk2ecommerce2/
We've been really impressed by the quality and value.

Oh I give up Hmm

We had excellent service from Oakfurnitureland and the quality is good too.

We have an excellent bed with memory mattress, bedside tables and drawers from oakfurnitureland. They were fab!

I got an oak sideboard from Oakfurnitureland and it is beautifully made. The customer service / delivery was excellent.

I had looked at lots and lots of others in stores and online and could not be happier with my purchase.

Whilst I love the table we bought from oak furniture land their aftercare is awful. I found their customer service reps rude and horrible to deal with.

I can honestly say I'll never buy from them again.

Nononononoooooo to Oakfurnitureland. We bought a great bed from them for DS, yay so we thought we'd go there again when we wanted some side tables.
When they arrived the nest of tables was completely smashed (like firewood) oh no, phoned customer services. Ok take photos we'll replace... Took photos, waited a week, got another delivery day, waited in and got another set of tables smashed exactly like the first ones.
Phoned back, got told they would phone me back, several goes and days later get a call, ever so sorry but all they can do is send me out another set of tables, can I take photos, yes I'll have to wait in another day and no they can't guarantee it won't be smashed again. (I asked if there was any chance they could look at the boxes before they were despatched as they obviously had a faulty batch as they were destroyed in the exact same way but he said no they couldn't - I'm guessing quality control is a stage they bypass )
As I only had limited life & days I can wait around for deliveries I said that as they couldn't guarantee it would be ok & couldn't give me anything for the 2 wasted deliveries & weeks of them having my money, that I would like my money back.
Yes, no problem. As soon as we pick up the damaged tables phone us & we will process a refund which will take a week.
So I had to arrange to wait in for them to pick up the tables which would be in another week. Annoyed but now wanting my money I waited in. Nobody turned up, I phoned to be told nobody had ever been booked, they had a record that i'd called but that I 'must have imagined they'd booked it' yep of course I imagined the argument i'd had with them taking so long and having to take another day off to wait in for somebody to take this pile of firewood box of tables away.
Many phone calls later and with no sign of an apology they booked another pick up another week later. This time I checked twice they were coming.
They turned up & took the firewood tables away. I phoned they said someone would phone me back to arrange a refund which would then take a further week, 2 days later nobody had phoned so I phoned again, somebody would phone me back, nobody phoned, I phoned again, no no they couldn't deal with it somebody from refunds would phone me back.... This kept going for another 10 days by which point I was losing my rag & about to attempt to get a chargeback through my credit card. They then without phoning me sent me a refund.
They had my money for over 2months, over 20 phone calls, several wasted days of holiday waiting in & no apology & I ended up having to go to M& S who delivered 1st time no problem on a Saturday (for no extra charge)

Gosh Wonkeylegs that sounds terrible, and exactly like many of the reviews I'd found online... it sounds like if the furniture arrives intact, fab, but if you're unlucky (which a large number of people seem to be) its a nightmare... and quite frankly I'm not feeling very lucky at the moment! Which is a shame, as they do look to have nice furniture at reasonable prices.

Anyone else have any alternative solutions - thanks Fender1 for your link but unfortunately their selection was quite small.

Lee Longlands & The Cotswold Company may be worth a look they have been fine to deal with ime.

John Lewis and Barker and Stonehouse also good and you can see the furniture in real life.

I have just been looking for a sideboard, it's hard to find a decent one!

ScienceRocks · 03/02/2014 21:27

Have you tried chris sharp cabinets? Based in Lincoln, everything made to order, delivered by the craftsman themselves, and not as expensive as you might think. We bought a wine rack/bookcase from them recently and it is a thing of beauty. The customer service has been fab too.

I have ordered an oak bookcase and sideboard from worldstores.co.uk. Not impressed with their customer service so far. I have no delivery date yet (I ordered over a week ago) and it's really hard to get in contact with them.

Dunelm Mill have a nice oak range.

Rosieliveson · 03/02/2014 21:41

I have an oak furniture land sideboard. It's great and I can't fault the service and delivery.
