Me and my whimsy-style bathroom again - what colour blind with this wallpaper? I have to order it today!

Have NEARLY finished the eclectic whimsy bathroom and MN was supremely helpful in convincing me to go for the black and white checked floor I really wanted (and it looks amazing!). Also have an old washstand I have painted bubblegum pink, green wall lights and this amazing wallpaper.

Honestly, it looks great so far! The wallpaper only goes around the top half of two walls - there are white tiles on the rest of the wall. The whole bathroom looks much more white than I thought it would so can get away with more colour.

As you walk in to the room the window is straight in front of you and the wallpaper is on that wall too so will be directly next to the blind IYSWIM. Really don't want a white blind and I think pink would be too much pink with the wallpaper and the washstand (I don't really do matchy!) but cannot choose a colour! It will probably be a roller blind. So do I go for green, yellow, aqua? Or a wooden venetian? Do I match one of the wallpaper colours or contrast???

HELP!!!

Yellow would be lovely and sunny. Wooden Venetian was my 1st thought but now leaning towards yellow.

I'd pick out one of the minor colours from the wallpaper, tbh - either the paler pink (although you said you don't want too much pink) or the beige light tan. NOT the orange though if you have a bubblegum pink washstand.

Not sure you could get away with green against that, depending on the shade though - maybe a sagey/soft leaf green (as opposed to fresh leaf green) - what sort of green are your lights?

Thanks for answering!

No I don't think we need any more orange and that's why I'm worried about the green! The lights are on the opposite wall (no wallpaper) and are transparent so not too bright - sort of leaf green I suppose?

I would love to use yellow Rummikub but just nervous as it will be SO visible!

DD says yellow. But she's 6 so I'm not sure she gets a vote Grin.

You can get some lovely yellows that are not madly bright. Is it a room that has lots of light?

IHeartKingThistle · 06/08/2013 14:47

It's pretty bright as the window is quite big - and all the white helps!

I've got a lovely sky blue on my bathroom walls and it does lift my spirit when I go in. Thinking yellow might do same? Or a calming green?

noddyholder · 06/08/2013 15:23

I would get a white wooden venetian with a tape in pink or green

IHeartKingThistle · 06/08/2013 17:20

You might be on to something there noddy!

Looks beautiful I have done it a few times for children's rooms Smile Love the paper btw

Sunnyshores · 23/08/2013 20:14

Hi Noddy - where can you buy venetians with different coloured tapes?

IHeartKingThistle · 23/08/2013 21:43

Wilson's blinds do coloured tapes but only on their more expensive Venetians. Look lovely but on balance I have enough white in there I think...
I think...!

I've utterly failed to order a blind but thinking I might be going for a yellow roller now.

Did you get yourself a blind in the end?

IHeartKingThistle · 13/09/2013 23:01

Decided on a yellow roller in the end ; not arrived but I think it'll look great. The bathroom looks fab - so glad mn helped me be confident enough to get what I really wanted!
