Husbands and DIY

Am i they only person who's DH thinks they can do DIY but are so spectacularly bad i always and up young the job myself. He just tried to reseal a bath it was smeared on 3cm thick i had to scrape 60% of it off with a cloth and tidy it up

He will now sulk as i shouted at him if he asked i would have done it anyway I don't have the emotional energy / room in my head for the row

My DH is great at DIY, that's why he does it. I'm quite alright at some DIY, so I do those. I don't automatically assume my DH should do the DIY just because he has a dangling appendage, it's not like he went to a special School For Humans With Dangly Bits that taught him all the skills you need to be good at DIY. He's taught himself to do the things he can do.

He does think I am better at traditional female tasks because I have boobs, but I'm convincing him otherwise, slowly but surely...

Sounds like you're better at DIY, why is your husband doing it?

Because he insists and thinks he can do it and has a very different order if priorities to me here are mine

1Feed kids
2 Ironing
3 Tidy vv small house

His

1 Redeal bath
2 Clean out fish tank
3 Hoover car

I do love him abduction he is a fantastic father but he drives be mad with the its ok sweetheart i will do it don't worry then 1/2 way through my name is shouted for advice / help / medical intervention!!!

my husband is spectacularly shut at diy i am a builders daughter
we are in the process of buying a do-er upper and my parents will be helping with the work. its already been decided between us that it much better if dh goes to work and earns some money than take time off to help. i just need to tell dh our plans....

DH isn't great at DIY, but he is good with electrics or machines. Internet/computer/washing machine breaks, he's in there sorting it out. Decorating, kitchen cabinets, flat pack furniture etc is just not his strong point. He will try, or will happily help me with it. Thankfully since I insisted that I LIKE doing it, he will leave them to me. As a partnership, it works pretty well.

Pretty much the same as MrsMangoBiscuit. He's quite good at fixing machines and building things but hates decorating. I'm quite good at decorating but it takes me forever.

I think it's worth getting someone in if you can afford it.
