.. how bad are those roadworks going round towards Heathrow from A10/M1 area? Are the delays awful?

Need to travel from Essex to the South Coast with two small DC's and was just wondering how long we might get stuck for, as have not travelled that way for quite some time.....

Thanks.

What day of the week?
What time?
Out of rush hour it is not to bad, maybe allow an extra 1/2 hour.
In rush hour - Yuk
Bank Holiday weekend - forget it
First weekend of the holidays - Nasty

We drive along here all the time, it is not worse than any other part of a motorway. Leave as early as you can in the morning.

Its not just that part of the M25 you need to consider re roadworks.

The roadworks on the M25 are widespread and may also affect you if joining from J28 (Brentwood) onwards going both clockwise and anticlockwise.

The M25 from J28 is currently being widened up to and beyond the junction for the M11. There is also on that stretch a 50 miles per hour speed limit which is very much enforced by yellow average speed check cameras.

Hmm. Thank you for the tips. Our plans are

-this coming Friday morning
-can leave it til after rush hour (aiming to leave home @9am)
-can avoid the stretch around Brentwood, fairly easy to drop in further West....

chances are if you hit that stretch after 10.30am you will be fine, it does get busy but no worse than any other part of the M25.

I did actually think about the middle of the night option... overheard someone else talking about it at school today as their way of getting to Cornwall. However, it's just me and the two DC's so it won't exactly be a smooth get away once I have stumbled down the stairs with both of them (nasty cottage stairs which I have fallen down before!), and I have a DDog who isn't covered until the Friday morning as well...

I think I will have to aim to be at that area around 10am and just hope for the best.

Thx for your advice!
