I am EXCITED!! Caribbean here we come!!!

I posted months ago when we booked our flights!!

But on Sat we head to London (from Glasgow) and then on Monday we fly to the DOminican Republic for THREE WEEKS! We have a s/c apartment, are doing Spanish classes, learning to surf and snorkel and dh is learning to scuba (his 40th present from me).

I am all ready, all the stuff we need is bought and piles are ready to pack when the last wash is dry.

I am so excited!!!!

We are flying to Barbados for three weeks, staying in a villa with a maid!!!!

Out from Gatwick next Saturday so this time next week I will be feeling like you.

With regards to your DH learning to scuba do ensure he has around 24 hours on the ground after arrival before he starts this particular activity.

we are going to DR in August, northern coast.
I've just been reading about the fact that there are enormous tarantulas on the island. I feel faint, being particularly arachnophobic. Please tell me you didn't encounter any. we're staying in an all-inclusive resort so we should be ok but I'm still worried

I've been to DR twice, and never saw any tarantulas, despite being out and about a fair bit.

We've been nine times and have only seen a tarantula once (and that was on the East Coast - on our first visit back in 1997). Have been to the North 6 times since then and have never seen one there. The spider was sitting on the wall above our hotel room door though!!
