OK, i'm being hopelessly indecisive and wd appreciate any thoughts. DDDDDM has said she will look after ds while dh and I head off somewhere overnight, midweek after the August bank hol. I'd thought of going to France as she lives just west of Southampton - we could just travel as foot passengers for cheapness. But descriptions of Cherbourg are not appealing and the only hotel recommended on here is well out of town. Somewhere nearish Southampton instead? or am I being unfair to Cherbourg? maybe another French ferry port? I'm not desperate to go to the Isle of Wight as I've been a lot. I'd love your ideas.
