Driving to Sweden? & which ferry to take?

We usually fly but DH wants to drive
Looks like it's about 1000 miles if we go via Eurotunnel

If you have done this trip is it worth taking the ferry from Harwich to Denmark instead?

Any hints & tips welcomed

We went with DFDS when we were kids and it was LOVELY! Felt very luxurious, lots of space to run around or sit and play cards during the day. We sailed Harwich to Gothenborg, took a day and a night, had a cabin and it went really quickly.

harwich to esbjerg (danmark), very comfortable but also quite expensive. we decided to fly, as one way was about 500 pounds for the four of us...

Can you still go from Newcastle ?

I'd love to do that. Its on my wish list of dream holidays.

most of the ferries have been cancelled or are ridiculously expensive, I was just looking into it, it was going to cost about £500 for my wife to go to Gothenburg by ferry without a car.

the only direct ferry left is the dfds freight so no under 5s allowed
