Has anyone risked it and gone for a last minute family holiday? Did you save money?

Title says it really. We still haven't booked anything, mostly because we can't decide if we should go abroad for two weeks or one. Our car needs replacing this year, so we don't want to spend too much, so I'm wondering if leaving it right until the last minute would be a good idea. What do you think?

We booked for October holiday on Friday and it has gone up £400 since Friday I think sometimes early is better now.

Only did it the once as we found that there was not enough choice (for us). Not intended to frighten you but this year's holiday in August was booked last August so that we got exactly what we wanted. We are 5 with big DCs so need to hunt around to get just the right thing for us.

My advice would be to look around now and see if you like what is on offer. Holiday companies are a lot smarter now so tend not to 'over stock'. Prices may be a little lower now as the people who were going to cancel will have now done so.

Good luck!

Thanks both of you, sounds like I ought to get booking.

I like to book early,- that way you get what you want and you have a longer period of time in which to budget and pay for it.
We tend to bag a free child place as well, which makes it worthwhile!
We're looking now for next year's summer hol, and will book within a couple of months.
