Thailand without the kids

Can anyone recommend which part of Thailand to go to for a relaxing holiday without the children? I've looked a tourism site and was considering Krabi - anyone been there or can suggest somewhere else that is good? Thanks

Sorry to say this but this country is far too politically unstable currently.

I would respectfully disagree Attila. We lived there for four years and still have friends in Bangkok. The trouble is mainly in the CBD and hasn't spilled out AFAIK. iwas under the ipression that the FCO had lifted its advisory not to go. My DH is going in July for a fortnight.
Back to the question. Krabi is a lovely place, we went there often. My biggest grumble would be the ants on the beach. The bites hurt like anything. Apart from the beach, there is little to do in Krabi unless you scuba dive. IIWM, I'd probably consider Phuket with the option to go up country and visit Kanchanaburi.

The FCO advice is their information as at today. They are basically advising people not to travel to Bangkok unless essential.

I like Koh Samui - particularly the Tongsai Bay hotel which is fab.
