Advice wanted taking dogs between France and Spain please

We've got 2 dogs who have travelled with us to the south of France many times so that isn't an issue.

We're going again at the end of May but this time DH is flying home to work for a couple of days from Gerona airport (northern Spain). I'll be driving him to the airport and was wondering if there are any restrictions taking dogs into Spain from France for a couple of hours and then back again. I don't want to have to take them to a vet in Spain to have their passports stamped or anything like that.

They could stay in the villa as it will probably only take me about a 4-5 hour round trip and they know the villa well. Ideally though I'd like to stop on the way back with the DCs near Perpignan but this won't be possible if I've left the dogs in the villa.

I can't find any guidance online.
Any advice welcome!

That's great advice - thank you!

The dogs will only be in Spain for around 3 hours but don't want to have to find a vet and give them unnecessary stress (and us unnecessary expense).
