Will be travelling with dh and three children aged 7,10, & 11. Would appreciate any thoughts on which airlines, what stop-overs etc.

Agree SW if you are bored at CHANGI airport there really is no help for you

mind you years and years ago on our first visit there we were just there for refueling and so we were only in one room on outskirts of the terminal.

And needed a wee, and the toilets was a hole with footprints for where you have to stand/squat

I was soooooooooooo embarressed walked in then straight out again, and there was a lady attendant she looked at me very weirdly {I was desperate} but waited til I got back on the plane

Our flight times - to Brisbane are: 12 - 13 hours London - Singapore and then 7 hrs Singapore to Brisbane. Like it going out as you have broken the back of the journey by SIngapore and we have then flown overnight to land in Brisbane about 6.30 am.

also meant to say it is longer - London to LAX - about 10 hours and then it is 16 hours to east coast Australia.

Book hotel room in Transit hotel ... even if you don't sleep have a bath and a lie down. Believe there's a pool too. Also, highly recommend Singapore Airlines - brilliant!

Can really endorse Singapore Airlines - went with DH and DS then aged 3 months in January. Cabin staff were fab. We did a 3 night stopover in Singapore which we found very child friendly (very clean too and they will absolutely adore the zoo). If you take the Singapore Airlines package you can do the stopover for next to nothing because they have fantastic hotel deals and you get a free hop on hop off bus pass which takes you to all the tourist destinations and you get lots of money off vouchers. The only thing we paid for was our food.

MNHQ - take note, you should get Singapore Airlines to advertise, everyone recommends them

I have flown with Singapore and Emirates, both were good. I was on my own with a 5 year and 11 month old on Emirates at Easter, and had a fantastic amount of help, including priority boarding with business class and additional storage for buggy/cases in the cabin. I do think the flight times are more managable with Emirates, as I find the 15 hour flight to Singapore hard going. What does anyone else think?

we have always done the overnight/afternoon flights with singapore airlines - more conducive to some sleep. The 12 1/2 to 13 hours with Singapore do not seem that bad - would rather do that than the three legs.... I always feel great when I get to SIngapore as I know I have broken the back of the trip. Flying via Singapore is the most direct way to fly - almost as the crow flies ( as we say here in Aus)
