thinking of going next week, but won't bother if queues are 30+ mins and it's heaving - has anyone been this week -what's it like (I mean, is it busy - have been there before so know what it's like IFSWIM!!!)

oh god, i can't bear the responsibility of either

a) warning you about queues and then you/family having a st day because you didn't go

or

b) saying "don't take any notice, it might be ok" and you having a s**t day.

I went yesterday, we had a good day but i won't be rushing back!

Expect to queue an hour for all the main rides.

If want to do all the bigger rides, don't waste time queueing for the smaller rides, you won't have time to fit them in. We arrived at 11.30am & left at 7.45pm.

Although the park closes at 7pm, they didn't close the mazes so we cheekily walked round there after closing & let the children have a play. Lots of people left miniland until the end & walked through that after the rides closed.

Leave the ride you want to do the most until 45mins before the park closes & join the queue before they close the line. Take paper & pens, we played hangman, squares & other games in the queue to keep the children amused(both 5). They were absolute stars & didn't complain once.

The dragon roller coaster (in the castle) had only a 20 min queue & that was when it was still very busy. The fire acacdamy was the same. These were the easiest rides to queue for.

Hope this helps!

thanks coldtea, it does help. It helps persuade me we really shouldn't go during school holidays

Bundle, I will print this thread off for dh and let him make the decision. That way you and I are both absolved of any responsibility

Have never been but thought I'd mention something I read in the newspaper last week (it was the Carmarthen Journal so it must be true). Apparently Legoland is the number 1 worst place for car crime (break-ins etc.) Presumably because people know cars are left all day and unlikely to be returned to early. So make sure you don't leave anything on view in the car.

Number 2 place is Oakwood Theme Park (the Number 1 Family Day Out in Wales) hence the story being in the Carmarthen Journal!

We went yesterday (11/8) not too bad early on but got very busy later. Queue for the Jungle Coaster was the worse about an hour. Smaller childrens rides straight on except driving and boating schools. We did these first and waited less than 10 minutes. My advice would be get there for 10 and go to the popular things first. Also the paddling area was a bit chaotic, too many 8+ running around and knocking little ones over- its better during school term time. We had a good day anyway and my ds (6) slept till 10 today!

Ladymuck · 12/08/2005 16:24

We went on Wednesday (ds's are 4 and 2, too young for jungle coaster). We wouldn't have known that it was meant to have been very busy if it wasn't for this thread. Didn't wait for anything longer than 10/15 minutes, though we didn't go out of our way to find the "big" rides. We let ds1 lead the way, and he did everything that he saw and took an interest in. We did want to head first to Pirate falls but ds1 saw the fire academy first, so we ended up there instaead and never quite made it as far as the Falls. Both ds's had a great time and loved the water activity etc. It was our first visit, and we loved it.

been to Legoland quite a few times however, today went to Paultons Park it is fab!

  • Cheaper to get in,
  • kids under a metre tall (or small!!) are free
  • No queues - all day never waited more than 5 mins!
  • More rides for Toddlers - my 2 dd's are nearly 4 and nearly 2 and went on loads of rides.
  • Not so "manic" as legoland
