We have got a 7 month old and my other half has 2 children who are coming to us for a week at the end of July. I don't really want to go any where too hot because of DS but wouldn't mind france or anywhere in the UK close to a beach. Does anyone know of anywhere suitable? Everything I am looking at is booked - arggggg, this is what happens when you leave it till the last mminute!

Try lastminute.com. They have some good deals.

What about a cottage holiday: cottages4you.com have always come up trumps for us.

Try English Country Cottages - they are more expensive but that might help on the availability. Also if you look online, they do take properties on all the time - my mate has just finished renovating a cottage complex in Devon and that has just gone up there which is how I know. We were in this situ last year and just did a ring round and got a lovely cottage in Dorset (through Dorset Coastal Cottages I think) which they were just taking on. It was a leap of faith as no pictures but we were pleasantly surprised. Good luck!

Just booked a holiday in Padstow for 1st week of school holidays with Harbour Holidays - but availability was quite limited even then. Of the other places I tried, St Ives was impossible, but more availability in Fowey area. Best to ring round wherever you fancy, IME I found searching by Internet far too slow - very few sites let you search by availability.

Just so you know cottages4you.com let you search by availability, and will only bring up stuff in your chosen week(s) and you can choose specific areas too if you want.

Glad to be of service! We're off on holiday tomorrow to a cottage in Scotland that we found though cottages4you.com, shame they can't organise the weather!!!!
