Camping Bay of Naples

I've always dreamt of taking the kids to see Pompeii, Vesuvius, and maybe taking in Sorrento and the ferry to Capri. I'm researching campsites as we love this form of holiday. Has anyone got recommendations for campsites that are a little bit away from noise & traffic and are within reach of the main sites? Or any other tips for this type of holiday?

We intend going in April - May before its gets too hot and crowded.

Naples is lovely - but a bit smelly! Very noisy too. I was staying with Italian friends (just outside Naples) in 2007 and they took us to all the usual tourist places - Pompeii and Vesuvius definately worth seeing.

You have the two coast lines in the south - Positano and the Amalfi (where Sorrento lies). Amalfi seems to be the most popular but honestly please check out the Positano coast if you have time, it is truly spectacular.

Sorry I have no practical advice as to where to camp, not sure of any near by.
