What to do with children in Manchester next weekend?

We're in Manchester next weekend but don't know manchester at all.
I'm on a course during the day on saturday and sunday but DH is looking for fun things to do with the boys 5 and nearly 3.

Bowl me over with your wisdom please.

I think the velodrome is already on the list (cycling fans).

TIA

Museum of science and industry will keep them amused for hours and hours - you can do full day there - it is free - child friendly restaurant - trains to look at, interactive zone, planes etc etc

manchester aquatics centre good for a swim

just near the aquatics centre is the university museum - huge dinosaur to look at, live geckos and snakes etc on one floor - saturday morning there's usually an activity to join in, on the top floor is an indoor picnic area if you've brought your own food - also a place to chill out look and books and draw

Second the museums mentioned by littlebluepills. Also you could take them on the Wheel of manchester - our kids love that!

All of the above, Manchester Museum brilliant and MOSI fabulous.

Also some lovely parks check out Heaton Park, farm, train, playground, lake, boats.

And Chorlton water Park lovely nature reserve.

Interested in football? Man U tour? A brilliant guide book had been published called "babies and children in the city" which has v comprehensive listings of everything their is to do for dcs in Greater Manchester Area. Google it, there's awebsite too.
