Where can DS1 (10) & I go for a weekend at the end of April?

DH is taking DS2 on a sporting weekend at the end of April, adn I told DS1 (age 10) that he & I could go off somewhere.

Ideally:

  • Can get then on Fri evening from SE England
  • Comfortable accommodation (not camping!)
  • something to do nearby - perhaps some sort of sporty/ outdoor activity - but not too remote or challenging, as there will just be the two of us!

I'd thought something like Center Parcs, but a bit less structured?
Somewhere in the South West with coastline and/or health club/ swimming pools etc in case it's cold?

Any ideas?
Nice family centre B&B type things?
It's after Easter holidays btw - 24th April ish.

I was going to say Longleat Center Parcs. Why would it have to be structured.....as the ads say....."you can do as much or as little as you want" .
Then if the weather is bad, you've got the lovely pools. You can go for lovely early morning walks, a leisurely swim, a bike ride etc.
If not, what about here?here

Longleat Center Parcs I'd choose. My ds 1,2 and 3 love it!

Also, as your DD is 10, she could try out other stuff such as GO Ape, fencing etc that little ones aren't able to do. Perhaps you could both go for a ride in the woods together too - they cater for all abilities.

If it was a DD, then a pampering weekend at a health spa may be something to do... but as it's a DS, what sort of thing does he want to do?

I'm at CP Longleat on 24/25 April, as was the cheapest weekend I could get at the time I booked. I'm not planning on doing much, so far all I've booked is a gym pass.

I looked at other places to go, Butlins Bognor for example... I found it would cost more, plus that weekend was some special adults only thing, so that isn't an option for you and DS.

Suppose you could do a Themepark type thing... Legoland and Chessington both do hotel packages. But that sort of a weekend may not be what you have in mind. DS on the otherhand may like it!
