Recommendations for a vac in the Caribbean?

I'm thinking of booking a family vacation in the Caribbean. Any recommendations, thoughts and advice welcome. We're not into water sports/divcing so preferably somewhere quiet, definitely with a colonial flair, upscale and not a lot of cruise ships please. I have browsed various websites but thought maybe some of you can relay personal experiences. TIA!

barbados seems to fit your bill I think or St Lucia

We go to the St James Club on Antigua every 2 years (timeshare but it's an all inclusive hotel too). It has free windsurfing and snorkelling, kids club, god restaurants, taxi rank on site for trips out... We went on a MN recommendation and liked it so much we bought a timeshare villa

Little Good Harbour, on the north west coast in Barbados would probably fit your bill. Away from the hub of the full-on west coast, discreet, tranquil, lovely. Would also recommend Lone Star but that beach is where all the cruise day trippers go to snorkle to see turtles.

I love St Lucia, but it would depend how old your DC are - the roads are pretty bad and transfer from airport to hotel can take a couple of hours over very bumpy, winding roads - not great after a long flight.

Thank you very much for all your good tipps! I must google and check it out. Sorry, has taken me ages to reply, early pregnancy + food poisoning + travel = not a good combo.
