Maritime Museum - Falmouth, worth a visit?

In the sumemr we're going to be in the New Forest for a couple of days followed by a week in Woolacombe. We have the choice of staying in the New Forest for a few more days or travelling off somewhere else for 2 or 3 days before going to Woolacombe.

I'd thought about going to Falmouth the the Maritime museum but it is quite a way to go for a visit. Is it worth it and is there anything else in that area to visit while we're there?

Excellent musuem - well worth a visit. We've been twice with the dcs. Mine are only little (2 and nearly 4) and we found plenty to amuse them, but it would be fab for slightly older children.

There's an excellent castle nearby (Pendennis?) - also well worth a visit.

It was OK - good thing to do on a wet day if you're on holiday in that area for sure - but I wouldn't travel that far for it. And I do quite like boats. If you're in the New Forest, wouldn't visiting The Victory etc make more sense?

We've already been to The Victory. DD likes boats and I like the sound of the basement room with the underwater windows. We could kill a few days in the area as well as museum. Thanks.

Yes, my two really enjoyed it last year. There is a Pizza Express next door with good views of the harbour.

They also have a whizzy boat called Orca, you can book on and go and look at the wildlife out at sea. Sea Safari.

You can take a boat to the little village/town of St Mawes which is nice.
