If you were going to Majorca which part would you go to?

We are thinking about going to Majorca for our summer holiday, but have never been before so I'm not sure which is the best bit to go for. We'll have two kids with us, aged 6 and 2 and really are just looking for a beach/pool holiday but with a nice town to wander around in the evenings. Which part of Majorca would be best for us?

Also if anyone has any villas/apartments they could recommend that would be great.

Thanks

I've been to Fornalutx in the hills. T'was gorgeous. But may be a bit quiet with children... lovely if you can leave them at home

There's a town nearby called Soller which is nice and has trams which go to Port de Soller and a tourist train you can get to Palma for a day trip.

Cala D'Or - lovely bays with shallow sea beaches, nice town and harbour to wander round at night, mainly families rather than groups of singles etc. Seven years since I went though, so worth doing a bit more research in case it has changed.

Puerto Pollensa is good. A bit of cultcha nearby in Pollensa (and good restaurants if you have babysitting). It's all terribly British (i.e. a bit overrun) but nice still. Definitely think about a car so you can explore Valldemossa, Lluc, Deya, Soller (and the little tram down to the Port which is sweet). Palma is definitely worth a daytrip too - gorgeous squares, water park thingy, impressive cathedral, alcazar etc

Another vote for Puerto Pollensa, love it there.

Pollenca and Cala san vincenc. Both lovely

no no go to Sa Coma to the Protur Safari Apts - fab hotel and apartments (Thomsons). Has a fantastic play park, small park with a kids pool and slide and a wooden fort and sand and they also have their own Water Park - £9 for adults kids free with all your wine, beer and food all day (lovely grill area serving freshly cooked to order sirloin steak, chicken etc..)

Lovely beach aswell

Thanks for the really good tips. I just need to spend some time now researching accommodation and resorts.
