we need a holiday! we're thinking october half term (i'm a teacher) and have no idea where to go.

where would you recommend for taking ds who will be 18 months by then.

pre ds we liked city breaks but also loved hawaii's beaches for homeymoon.

palma nova in majorca is nice, its small with only a handful of shops . we went last year in the October half term, all inclusive. the beach is nice and its very flat (ideal for a pushchair). the flight isnt very long and the transfer time is only about 30 mins. the temps were in the mid 20s so still quite warm

we took our ds who was then 9months to Jersey, we had a fab time and found something for everyone. I know it isn't very exciting and not far from home but the island is very child friendly (although we stayed there nearly 6 years ago) an dhad a wonderful time.

Our normal type of holiday is walking, outdoors, space, non tourist, usually places where we don't meet other english speakers, and we have Never had a package holiday or stayed in high rise hotels etc, taking all that into considersation we really loved Jersey. We also went Oct half term.

We had a lovely holiday in October, the year before last, before I went back to work in the Spring Term (teacher too!) after a long maternity break. DCs were just 3 and 23 months, so we figured it was the last time we'd be able to holiday outside school hols and we wouldn't have pay for a seat for DC2 on the aircraft. We went to the Gulf Coast of Florida, flying to Miami and picking up a hire car to drive to Naples. (If you fly to Tampa you can cut down the drive but it's not that far.) It was gorgeous; really child friendly, lovely restaurants, bargain shoping for kids clothing etc food and drink not expensive, we had a kitchenette in our hotel room so could easily rustle up something for kids, great wildlife park (small Zoo, I suppose) in Naples. Some friends were staying further south down the coast with their baby and we visited them there in Sanibel - beautiful, safe beach lovely shallow family swimming pools. Not crowded at all, as for Floridians, October is the down season because you get a warm shower of rain for half an hour most days, which we found very refreshing! Rest of the time glorious sunshine!
