As above really.

Looking for all inc, 4/5* hotel for dh, ds(3) and I. Ideally walking distance to town etc, we stayed in a fab hotel last year but were pretty restricted to complex as it was in the middle of no where!

Any recommendations?

TIA

I cant recommend it cos I aint been there but when I was looking on the cosmos website there was this hotel los cristianos

They do all inclusive but its only 3* though.

I stayed in los cristianos years ago and its quite small and quiet but that hotel is right on the beach.

Hotel Abama - stayed there October half term. Good quality 5* - but yes, not really walking distance to anything. However with own private beach etc is that vital?

We hired a car for 3 days to explore other areas

With having an active 3 year old, its better if we have somewhere to have a walk to kill some time

We are going to barcelo santiago for half term. I have heard nice things about it. I hope it's going to be fun for the dcs.

geordieminx · 01/02/2010 14:23

We looked at that, the only problem was it didnt look like they had seperate bedrooms, which would be a bit of problem with a toddler?

Hi there.

I live and work in Tenerife as a childcarer - www.tenerifechildcare.com

I know the abama hotel well and yes, it is lovely but yes, also very much in the middle of nowhere.

Have you looked at the Bahia del Duque?
This is a 5* complex and really lovely.
They have nightly entertainment too which is a bonus.

You are a 5 minute walk away from everything you could need.

Another hotel that i can recommend is the 'Anthelia', again, close to everything and a very nice 4* hotel.

Let me know if i can help you with anything else you may want to know.
Lisa.

geordieminx · 01/02/2010 18:39

Hi lisa, thanks for that.

Do you know anything about the cleopatra/marco antonio/mediteranean complex in las americas?

We stayed at the los gigantes spa and suites hotel last year which was fab, but there wasnt ouch outside of the complex.

Also would the sian water park be worth it for a 3 year old?

Many thanks

Hi.
Im sorry for taking so long to get back to you.
I dont know those hotels that you have mentioned but try and get some reviews on trip advisor. They are normally very honest and to the point.

Siam park is fantastic BUT i would not recommend it for a 3 year old as it is more for the older child, maybe 6 onwards.
However, there is a little area for the smaller children, little slides etc for them to play on.

There is a big pool in siam park but it has a wave machine and even if you are in the shallow part it can be tricky to keep balance.

There is another waterpark here called 'Aqualand' and to me, i find it much more child friendly as you have a big pool but with no waves so you can enjoy a swim and not get draged under water.

A few of the rides you can actually have children with you as they are tamer.

The best thing though is they have a dolphin and sealion show at 3pm which is a really teriffic show.

Also at aqualand you can purchase another ticket for just 5 euros for another day so you can go back and relive the fun without having to pay top whack.

Sorry for blabbing on there,i have just realised how much i have written hehe.

geordieminx · 02/02/2010 19:55

Thanks for that - where abouts is Aqualand?

It is very close to siam park in Adeje.

bluesky · 03/02/2010 19:21

I looked at Bahia for October half term, and for two rooms (DSs 14 and 10) it was £8k!!! I was recommended Anthelia (the one you mention Lisa2), as an alternative once I had recovered my sharp intake of breath.

bluesky · 03/02/2010 19:25

HMC - what was the weather like at Hotel Abama in October half term? It looks very nice.

geordieminx · 03/02/2010 19:36

We have almost decided on here

They have suites so that we can out ds to bed and still sit in the living room/on the balcony. It looks lovely, and there seems to be plenty to do.

Yes, the anthelia is lovely bluesky and you will find that the weather in October is around 24/27 degrees. Last October we had it very hot here and was around 28/30 degrees.

The mare nostrum is very nice and it is so close to all shops, bars and restaurants and is right on the beachfront of Las vistas.

Happy holidays folks.;)

bluesky · 04/02/2010 09:58

thanks lisa2 for replying, weather sounds great for October half term holiday.

Lisa2 · 04/02/2010 11:59

No problem and yes, the weather is generally lovely around october.

And remember im here if you need any childcare, day or evenings.

dinkystinky · 04/02/2010 12:02

Roca Nivaria is great (went there in November) - not really walking distance to anything though...

bacon · 08/02/2010 11:35

I'd recommend the Anthelia, was there in November, boiling hot all week! You can easily taxi into centre and its very reasonable. Central Amercias was lovely but could I spend a whole week there??? Suppose thats the trouble with Tenerife its samey, not great for eating out and drinks were the same as here. We spent a fortune on a shorthaul holiday. Bahia was far too much cos the Anthelia was £2,500 for B&B (interconnecting rooms). The area was nice but a bit soul less Duque was pleasant but pricey but like I said you could taxi around. Whatever you do miss out Travocas (spelling??) really nasty, beach horrible and beach front run down and some parts really bad, constant hastle from bar owners and no where to eat just cheap nasty. So a night-time stroll was really towards Duque or taxi down to Amercias. I would read the Trip adviser website first I found that excellent and with AI you want good food but what I was reading AI isnt very nice. Full board or half board and buy drinks from the supermarket. Ive got to say the breakfasts at the Anthelia were amazing but you wouldnt get that standard on AI unless you paid a vast amount. Evening meals were dear even at a nice restaurant, Hotel £35 plus wine each but even on some of the "not very good" restaurants on the walkways were paid £70. Personally I want fab food on hols not passable crap. Wine in rests were £10 - £20 but we did have an amazing bottle that we bought in the spa for £4!!!
