I'm flying to NZ with my 7 month old. DH is not coming with us unfortunately. Have booked Air NZ as it was the shortest flight and despite stopover no plane changes or extended time in transit. I have booked and confirmed a bassinet.

DS is a good sleeper but I need advice on what to do with him when he's awake. Also he's formula fed and on solids so any tips on transporting his formula due to new security rules much appreciated.

We flew to Sydney when DS was 9 months old (and back when he was 10 months!). Basically it involved a lot of walking around the plane, sitting with him on a lap with a few soft toys, little books, lots of little snacks. He was largely fine - his big sister (27 months at the time) was worse!

I flew a lot with dd when she was that age, take along special toys, books and some wrapped surprises. the staff are generally very good with babies. As far as the new security stuff goes, I have no idea. Sorry.

Thanks. Will start collecting a bunch of little toys to amuse him.
