Is it very windy everywhere in the canaries?

We're meant to be going away with my in-laws for an April beach holiday.

We're a bit limited as to where we can go because of the time of year already, but then MIL said she thought the canaries were too windy and you couldn't sit on the beach.

Is it really that bad?

I don't suppose the 20 month old would enjoy herself if sand was blowing into her face all day long. Need advice!

We went to Lanzarote late April 08 it was windy but hot, so the breeze was nice - certainly not "windy", went to Tenerife April/May 09, not windy at all - very warm.

It can be a bit of a gamble as to what the weather is like in the canaries in April, but we've always gone last week April/first week in May and had lovely weather.

I live in Tenerife and yes it can get windy if he have a calima or something but generally it is not windy at all.
You normally get a nice gentle breeze but nothing too blowy.

However there are certain areas on the island that are more windy than others, the south airport being one of them and another place is El Medano.

Hope you have a lovely time wherever you decide.
Tenerife is beautiful in april, not burning hot but still very hot beach, bikini weather.

When we went ot Lanzarote there was a breeze all the time but it was never too windy to sit on the beach, my girls had great fun playing in the sand and it never blew in their faces.
