Teen residential hols NYC

Hi, my ds (15, will then by almost 16) really wants to go to the States for his holiday next year, but we don't, particularly (DH spends loads of time there for work).

Sooo, what I'm thinking is sending ds over by himself or maybe with a friend. He's done the same to PGL lots of times. I've found a site which does techy, game design type residential courses in Manhattan and was wondering if anyone knows of anything else, pref. more along the lines of accompanied groups visiting the main tourist sites & generally being around in case of any problems, and obviously most importantly having safe and secure accomodation.

Does anyone by any miracle have any info/experience/advice?

What is he interested in? There are summer camps for everything in New York, but most of the residential ones will be outside the city. Does it have to be New York? What about arranging an exchange with another family, so he could stay with them for a week in the city and you could have their child to stay with you later?

There's a website here that has listings of camps, see if anything grabs you there. It looks like the NYC based ones are mostly specialist music/drama ones, for example this one is based in Brooklyn but they mention doing some sightseeing as well.

Thanks, Alark. The one in Brooklyn looks interesting. Hadn't thought of an exchange, but that would be worth looking into.

Will have a good nosy round that site, thanks.
