Holiday for me and my mum

When I turned 18 (nearly 2 years ago now) we went to Egypt together, so I spent my 18th in Sharm El Sheikh. We weren't too keen (just not for us really). Anyway, my mum is having a big birthday in July 45 and she'd like us to go away again. Unfortunately, we have NO idea where to go! We want somewhere exotic really, but not TOO far, max 9 hours maybe? I'm not sure (I've done NYC before so I know I can survive 7 hours on a plane!).

Ideas so far:
Dubai
Barbados.

Other than that, not a clue! Any ideas greatly appreciated. We don't mind lazing by the pool but we will want a couple of excursions, and maybe 10 days away...

Do you want to go in July?

I'm off with my mum tonight to Goa, but that's a better winter destination. I'm glad you're going away with your mum - all my friends think I'm mad spending a couple of weeks in a hot country with her, but I really enjoy our holidays together.

Morrocco would be very very hot in July.

Caribbean is good and the flights are easy to organise. What about Thailand?

Thailand very cheap at the moment, the weather in july would be reasonably hot, but, depending on where you go very humid.
