Cheap Francophone girly weekend with DD, 16?

DD wants to spend some time in a French-speaking country to help her French A-level, but has never travelled alone and needs to build up her confidence. Can you recommend a cheap weekend destination/hotels she and I could go to for (window) shopping, cafes, subtitled cinema, maybe a spa? Just after Christmas/Feb half term/just after Easter. Many thanks!

I'd go to Paris - it's cheap and easy to get to from the UK - why don't you look at the Eurostar web site and see if you can get a good deal on train + hotel?

I agree with the Paris idea.

Also, why don't you book her a week long course at the Alliance Francaise in Paris? She would be the language input, and a week staying at a youth hostel, or as part of an exchange thing, would not be too taxing.
