Long weekend for sea and sand:Greek Islands?

Hi,
I have not been able to take my sons on holiday for a few years now and am feeling very guilty. I would like to take them away for the odd long weekend, does anyone have any ideas for a sandy beach/nice hotel/ short flight? Friday - Monday?

No idea about hotels and greek islands - but slightly closer to home - how about the south of france? the flight would be a lot less giving you more time for fun!

What about the channel islands? I think a Greek Island is a bit far to go for a long weekend? The flight is 4 hours to Athens, probably the same to Corfu (which is closer to UK than Athens) What about Spain?
