When you book car hire, how much do they usually put on hold on the credit card?

Just wondering so I can decide which credit card to take.

It doesn't tell you any exact amounts. We're using Argus if that helps?

we booked with car 3000 and the car came from sixt, they wanted 900e dh got them down to 450 after much haggling. we had pre booked and paid so was a little peeved.

It was because of your 900e problem that I started this thread I'm panicking.

We've pre booked with a 33e deposit, but are paying on arrival.
