Hi I am in need of the wisdom of mumsnet again! We will be taking our new 12 week old ds2 and ds1 3 to visit my DHs nan (boys greatnan)in Enfield next weekend.

However the last visit before ds2 arrived involved sitting in a 10 ft backyard with 6 chain smokers for 8 hours so I would really like to be able to suggest a more child friendly venue to meet up in.

Does anyone know of any pubs or parks or anything more appropriate within a half hour drive of enfield?

My lungs will be eternally grateful!

there is a soft play area just outside Epping and about 7 mins from Jct 26 of the M25 (Waltham Abbey Area)

there is a big Old Orleans practically next door

Enfield Town Park has a good playground, with fountains to play in, and a cafe.

If it's raining, there is a soft play bit in Southbury Leisure Centre (not sure if this is the same one Rubyslippers is referring to).

Grovelands Park (Winchmore Hill) is also very nice, has a playground, cafe and lake.

Broomfield Park is nice but doesn't have a cafe IIRC although there is normally an ice cream van there.

Sorry, I should have put all this in one post really

If you're after a pub then the Robin Hood has a huge beer garden and does decent grub too.
