What do you all do about car seats in Asia?

Hi, We are off to Malaysia and Thailand in August with DS3 who will be 2. We are mostly flying internally but have a few short trips in taxis to hotels. Do you normally take a cra seat with you and if so which type? DH Is adamant that we just take a booster seat. DS3 weighs 12 kilos. Many thanks

We found that many taxis in Thailand didn't have rear seat belts (even in Bangkok) so didn't use a seat with dd (then age 3). We also used songthaews as transport in Northern Thailand which just have side benches in the back.

I found the same as twink, no seatbelts in the cars in Thailand.

Where are you staying?

Thought I was going to get blasted for even considering not taking the 12 kilo sturdy 5 point harness seat. We are off to Khao Lak and Koh Samui. I am going to arrange mini buses with the hotels as there are 5 of us travelling so I hope they have seat belts at least!

I am English but live in Singapore and Asia is generally quite lax about seat belts and car seats. I wouldn't bother taking one if I were you as there are often not seat belts - I am sure you will be OK.
