Is Europe totally extortionate now? What would make more sense money wise, all inclusive or self catering?

Thinking about a last minute deal this weekend, maybe Menorca. But I'm not sure what would make more sense, self catering (£310 for a week) or AI (£480 a week).

Have you been to the Eurozone recently and if so is it very very very pricey???

Thanks

If it's the kind of AI with drinks, ice cream etc all day, they are the things which mount up if you are a family of however many, so an extra £170 would probably be well worth it

Well I think the UK is extortionate so it's probably similar price, just that on holiday you would be buying a lot more "treats" - ice-creams etc.

AI sounds nice and relaxing - it was my idea of hell before but now I think it would be great not to even have to THINK about meals, just eat them and get on with reading my book!

Was in France, Spain and Italy over Christmas period last year and was quite shocked at how expensive (especially Spain0 had become with the strong Euro / weak Pound. Cup of coffee = 5 Euros a lot of places.
I would definitely go AI. I always did when the kids were small and could get themselves ice cream and soft drinks all day long without having to worry about additional costs (or having to pester me for money all the time).
Have to agree with Haventslept - anywhere in europe seems cheaper than the UK.
