I know we had single parent holiday ideas, but I need ideas for a holiday with a baby.

ds is 11 months and I need to get away somewhere, he doesn't have a passport yet so would have to be in the UK. I have a very lovely cath kidston tent but not too sure if I want to go camping, might be a bit of a hassle with no car and no one to keep me company in the evenings. Can't really leave ds sleeping in the tent while I go off to the pub!

so what other options are there? Needs to be easy to get to by train and cheap and near a beach would be good.

Have you contacted Gingerbread? You're not moanig at all. Life on your own with a child is very very tough. I've done a lot of it and I'm still recovering...!
Good news is that once they're mobile and fairly sensible, it is very easy to take them out and about!! My 4 year old dd is a brilliant companion. Could(and do) take her anywhere.

I think I will go camping for a couple of nights, look how cool my tent is! Just to get away, a change of scene will do me good I'm sure. If I could find somewhere near a train station, ie taxi distance, and near a beach or lake that would be quite fun. ds would love it, all the people to talk to and he would love paddling in the sea.

that's cool, I wish they did stripy tents, it wont be long before ds is complaining about the flowers!

beansmum, I can't compete with that hotel, but honestly truly you are welcome to come and stay with us for a night or two, and I will babysit if you want to go out in the evening! We're in Brunstfield, so not exactly exotic, but I can offer you a nice paper shop, and two children who dote on babies

Failing that, would Peebles Hydro appeal at all?

tamum · 02/05/2005 15:34

P.S. That's paper as in handmade, not as in newsagent

honestly tamum? I might take you up on that offer! but I think I need to get further away than Bruntsfield for it to count as a real holiday!
what's peebles hydro then?

I know! I'm totally in love with everything in that catlogue! especially this !

Honestly I do realise it wouldn't be exactly a holiday as such, but you would be welcome, we've got lots of space!

Peebles Hydro is here . They don't offer childcare for under 3s, but you can use the playroom, and the pool is lovely apparently. There's also Crieff Hydro , but not as much to do in Crieff itself, and further than Peebles.
