Anyone stayed at Disney's Old Key West Resort?

Looking at maybe going here in November. Have been to Florida quite a few times but never stayed at Disney before.

Have read mixed reviews on Tripadvisor and wondered if anyone had been there.

Thanks.

Try a search on MN longhaul holidays.

We are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge in August and vey much looking forward to it. We have also never stayed in a Disney hotel before; have always been in a villa before.

Never stayed at this resort, but my reservation would be that it is in the Downtown Disney area, so not bang near the parks. In order to maximise your enjoyment of the Disney experience, it is worthwhile to stay at a resort with really good transportation, so you can nip back and forth from your hotel room to the parks, having daytime rests etc.

We have stayed at Caribbean Beach Resort, Beach Club, Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge. The Wilderness Lodge is my most favourite EVER. Animal Kingdom Lodge is good too.

Have a look on theDis website (it's a US one) - there is so much information there from real insiders and fans.

Thanks fircone. We will have a car rather than use disney transportation so not too worried about its location.

Really wanted to know about the rooms and service there.

Might try that website though!

Hi Newpup! We stayed at The French Quarter last year which is one of the middle of the road resorts. The reason we went for that choice, was that we had 5 days of "hard core" disney play time!! Basically spent every minute of the days in the Theme Parks, so we really only used the resort as a base for sleep as we then flew elsewhere for a week of beach and relaxation time!

We did not have a car while at the Disney Hotel as the transportation system between the parks and resorts is very good (think Fircone touched on that)and it is a lot easier to jump on the Disney bus which stops as near to the Park entrances as you can get rather than having to queue for the car parks and then if you're anything like me, you've got to remember where the car was left!! Also, check with the resort but you should be able to get the Disney Bus from the Airport.

Thanks gummycat. We do usually hire a car as DH prefers to drive rather than queue for a bus!! We are seasoned Disney visitors I am afraid but fancied staying in a Disney property as we have never done that before.

We want a villa as we would like the DDs to have their own room and like some space to relax when they are in bed in the evenings. We usually hire a 2 bedroom villa in lake Buena Vista and I like the idea of being close but not too close if you know what I mean!

Just wondered if anyone on here had actually stayed in Old Key West. It is a Disney vacation club property and most people do not realise that anyone can book it so reviews are hard to find. Found some on trip advisor but they are not that helpful. Although having said that the reviews for the appartments we normally use are not always good but we find it to be excellent!!
