Hi All...

I am in need of a decent priced holiday preferbly in spain.

I would like to rent a villa/apartment as they seem cheaper than hotels. (but would do hotel if can find cheap one)

There are:

Me, DP, Mum, Sister (19), Brother (12) and My DD who will be around 17 months...

BMI baby seem to be doing cheapest flights I can find for all of us at £523. Plus found lots of villas for around £450 a week.

Id like to go for 2 weeks although will take a 10day break if cheaper.

Please can Mumsnetters help me find a near perfect holiday as havent been away for 5yrs, Mum is ill, needs a break and sis needs one too after first yr at uni. Havent had a great 2 yrs so far so need some SUN, SEA and SAND!!!

xxxxx

I was looking a little while ago at Holiday Rentals places on the Costa de la Luz. Lots of very reasonably priced apartments/villas. Much, much cheaper than the Costa del Sol. Flights into Jerez or Seville. Ryanair?

moondog · 03/05/2009 12:10

Do a house swap. Cheapest of all.

Chellesgirl · 03/05/2009 12:15

Ok thanks ladies...
Moondog Im in privately rented house, dont know wether that would be poss?

Ill have a look at ryanair.

Has anyone got a holiday for less than £1500?

Chelle, more difficult then. It's easier to be open to all ideas. Use something like lastminute.com where you feed in all your details and they come up with somethnig for you.
Bit of a lottery in effect.

The exchange rate is making things a bit difficult and pricey in countries with the Euro so maybe think about somewhere like Turkey or Tunisia?

Directskiandsun · 03/05/2009 12:26

What dates are you looking at? Does it need to be Spain?

If not tied to peak weeks (July/August)and you might consider France, I can suggest various well-priced options, close to beach (Brittany) or lake/mountains (very relaxing, perhaps a better summer climate for your DD) - see my website details on my profile and drop me a line if I can help.

Chellesgirl · 03/05/2009 13:34

ouch. it has to be from8th aug to 22nd aug as I nanny for family and these are the dates they are going away. Have just been looking at britsh hotels/cottages and roughly same price as abroad...ive never been to turkey...do you know what its like?

Ouch indeed I haven't been to Turkey but I'd expect anywhere in the Med to be very hot in August, and not especially cheap (unless your nerves can hang on for something very last minute...) I'm presuming you need 3 bedrooms? If so, we have some options in the Alps for £1300 for the two weeks you need (two swimming pools, play area, lots of green space) or Brittany for a bit more. TBH, finding something still available for those two weeks, and at the cheaper end of the scale, won't be easy now - the dates are high peak and will have been snapped up

thanks directskiandsun...

with alot of thinking ive decided to go for a british holiday, like center parcs as a 1st choice

Then we are def going on a cruise to Us virgin Islands and around carribean in Dec...something my family need to do this year to go visit fam in VI.

Ive never been to somewhere like the Alps or Brittany...been to heart of france thats my only taking on those kind of places..and wasnt keen on the cultural side of things.

my family need LIVELY fun, lots of music, bars, restaurants, beaches, etc...

i really appreciate everyones comments and will post again if I can noit decide on where to go...please if you have nay further ideas (cheap ones preferbly) dont hesitate to drop a post by here

Center Parcs is good, but not cheap IME. We've had a couple of good, relaxing breaks in various of the parcs, but I wouldn't say you'll find the lively fun, music and bars etc Enjoy wherever you end up!

Chellesgirl · 04/05/2009 16:25

oh really...ok. ive had a look at centre parcs, not great prices as you say. maybe not then! Im gonna have to keep on looking!!!!!!

Turkey is great and cheap at the moment. There are certainly places there with fun/music/bars. We went to Olu Deniz a couple of years ago. Trip Advisor is a wonderfully addictive website.

Chellesgirl · 07/05/2009 18:02

Thankyou mother...

i will def try that site now, cus we are desperate for a holiday this year!
