Weather in Tenerife late April/early May?

We are off to Tenerife in 2 weeks, we booked the Canaries as we presumed it would be warm(hot?) at this time of year.... now looking at the BBC weather its only 19deg at the moment.... now ok thats not cold, but its not bikini weather... even by my geordie standards

We went to Lanzarote this time last year and it was lovely... can someone reassure me that the bbc is wrong and that we wont need jumpers/socks/balaclavas?

TIA

Nope, we went at the end of March last year, not sunbathing weather at all...sorry , going last two weeks of August this year !!!

We usually go to Fuerteventura in February and it's usually scorching hot We took fleeces for the evening when it went cooler or for the occasionally windy moment.

Have a lovely time.

oooh ... and memories from 20 years ago! I did go to Tenerife in April, I came home very very tanned. The South is particularly scorching then and the North is more verdant and there is half day sun/ half day cloud usually there. Still take something warm for evenings. Hope you get to go up Teide

We are going to los gigantes which is about 1/2 up the coast from Las Americas so hopefully should still benefit from the southern weather.

Yeah, I remember last year I had taken a few cotton dresses for the evenings but needed to wear a jacket (and sometimes wrap ds's blanket around me). We are going AI this year so probably wont be venturing out much of an evening (ds is 2 so its not so easy this year)

We went to Tenerife last year in April. The weather was lovely. It was mid 20's during the day and it cooled down in the evening so that cardigans/jumpers were required while we sat outside to eat.

It was rather cold up Teide and very windy.

It was a lovely holiday and I would have loved to go again this year.

Thanks. I was really starting to panic... with ds only being 2 we are relying on the weather being nice so we can play in the pool/outside/go for walks etc.

I was in Gran Canaria less than two weeks ago and the weather was fantastic. Like you I was a bit worried because according to various weather websites it was only 19 but it was way hotter than that and definitely bikini weather.
It was perfect weather really - hot but not too hot and cool at night for sleeping.

It was HOT on the beach when we went 7th April 2007. Off the sand the heat burns your feet.

Cold in the morning because Tenerife is in the wrong timezone so it's still chilly at 10am (but on the other hand gets dark very late), but in the afternoon it is hot.

That's South coast. I think North is a different story.
