I have been searching around looking for ideas but my brain is scrambled with all the information so I thought I would post asking for ideas!

Haven't yet got round to having a holiday since having ds who is now a crawling/crusing 15 month old. Am looking for good child safe cottage (stair gates etc) in either the South West or Pembrookeshire. Have looked at English Cottages website but difficult to pick out child friendly places so hoping someone has recommendations!

The other thought is Center Parcs which we love so still considering although we want to go in May so need to decide soon!

We've used Hoseasons Country Cottages in the past, which have been lovely, clean etc and a lot of them provide stair gates/cots etc.

With regards to Center Parcs - I very much doubt you'll get in now - I tried to book for October and already fully booked!!

We stayed at a cottage here last year, which is part of the Cartwheel organisation that futurity linked to. We loved it, though it wasn't as sophisticated as having soft play areas on site (just one cottage, not a whole complex) - it did have some swings behind the cottage, plenty of childrens books, toys and videos provided - but it was great for our animal-mad toddler as there were horses and dogs "on-tap"!

Coastal Cottages of Pembrokeshire - we've been with them twice and no complaints! Cottages are well described, so you know if child friendly or not. Pembrokeshire is really beautiful and quieter than Devon, also with loads of family attractions (farm parks, adventure playgrounds etc) as well as the great beaches.

futurity - we take our 2 dds to Salcombe in Devon - it is a fantastic place - there are 2 websites for 2 local cottage letting companies - one name is Coast and Country Cottages, the other Salcombe Holiday Homes (try a google search as I don't know the exact websites).

The staff know all the cottages - and there are lots and lots to choose from - so they can advise on suitability - and the Coast and Country website has availability on line on a weekly basis.

There are great beaches, swimming pools, an activity farm nearby, very child friendly pubs, shops etc - would really recommend it.

Have stayed in cottages with www.helpfulholidays.com lots of time in the SW and they really are helpful! This was life BC but I'm sure they would be equally as helpful re requests for childfriendly hols. Lots of the places we stayed in had good toys/books available and we just chose the cottages for the location/view!

I can totally recommend Center Parcs. You can't beat it!! We have been as a couple before our daughter was born and twice since. The accomodation has a cot, dishwasher, microwave, barbie, jacuzzi. It even had a stairgate. There was so much to do. We all could do exactly what we wanted.
One day my hubby and I went for a couple of hours in the spa while we put the littl'n in the creche for 2 hours, which I have to add was very professional. It was also our 3rd anniversary so we had a baby sitter when she had gone to bed went for a meal. Our Daughter loved all the wildlife going past the patio and the horses and swimming and going on the back of daddies bike. We're going to Portugal in June but can't wait for Septmeber - Center Parcs again!!
Good luck with your choice!!!

We're off to Ivy Tower, very close to Tenby. We went year before last and it was great. There are about 12 cottages and I'm sure you could ask for stair gates, they do provide cots. It's got a small indoor swimming pool, tennis courts and a play area. It's part of Celtic Haven which is also worth investigating and there was a fantastic complex in Saundersfoot which we'll be checking out when we're there.
Good luck!
