DH has to go there for a week in the summer and we've decided that dd and I will go with him.

So I just wanted to know what there is for us to do during the day.

Any recommendations?

Oh yeah, I forgot the Pier. I could do that the same day as the beach couldn't I?

I hope the hotel is near the beach.

Hope it has parking on site too as parking is a real pain

If it is THE GRAND it is just over road from beach and has health spa with indoor pool/gym etc

and outside pool

Newbarnsleygirl · 19/04/2005 00:31

I don't think the hotel is booked yet but I will pass that info on as DH has a thing about parking his car.

Right we're going on the 6th June, Monday to Friday.

Does anyone know of any events going on or have anymore suggestions?

Excellent.

Just wanted to have lots of options so that we're not stuck in the hotel all week.

Can't wait

Eastbourne has Rocky's (owned by same people as Hastings Clambers I think - BTW I used to take dd to Clambers and have never seen any dodgy men there - don't think adults are allowed in without children) play centre - might be useful if it, God Forbid, rains.
Drusillas is good whether wet or dry, in fact, it is a must if you are in this part of the world.
Other options: Brighton Aquarium and the funfair on the pier.

Also, second Seven Sisters Sheep Centre with tractor ride, etc.
Another brilliant place is Middle Farm, its very near to Drusillas. As well as being able to watch the cows being milked and look at (and touch some) lots of different farm animals, it has a play area and nice tea-room for lunch and a fab organic food shop and even fabber organic wine and cider shop. Very cheap entrance price (about £2?) per person compared to Drusillas (about £10)

Newbarnsleygirl · 01/05/2005 16:48

I'm slightly worried now because I won't have any transport and all these places seem to be outside of eastbourne

I'll bear in mind the Brighton Aqaurium cos we'll be coming back down at the end of the month and I really want to visit Brighton.

Newbarnsleygirl, there is a very frequent train from Eastbourne going West to Brighton and going East to Hastings. The journey is not more than half an hour in each direction. Getting to Drusillas at Alfriston, though, not sure about that one.

Newbarnsleygirl · 01/05/2005 17:02

Is there anything right in the centre iykwim? I read that they do boat trips from the pier, which sounds nice but apart from the pier, amusements and the beach.

Don't think so NB, Eastbourne seafront has to be kept fairly clear for all the zimmer frames

Newbarnsleygirl · 01/05/2005 17:11

Oh it's that sort of place is it!

I'm just presuming that we will be near the beach. Dh hasn't been told where he is supposed to be holding his course so it could be somewhere other than the center.

Just along eastbourne seafront there is Fort fun which is a massive play area for children. There is also the Sovereign Centre, which is a large swimming pool complex. There are always buses going round the area.

Newbarnsleygirl · 02/05/2005 09:46

Thanks for that B.

Rocky's is at/near Fort Fun too
