I have a problem to solve- calling all creative minds!!

We have recently acquired a caravan and are planning our first weeekend away in 2 weeks time.

The problem is I don't know where/how to sleep our 10mo dd.

There is a double bed at one end where dh and I will sleep. It is tiny and I can't co-sleep at the best of times so that's not an option.

At the other end there are 2 sets of bunk beds with a gap of about 2 feet between them. I am planning on sleeping my 2 and 4yo on each of the bottom bunks and would ideally like the beby to sleep in the middle but I need to contain her and make sure the other 2 don't fall on top of her! She can cruise and crawl so is very mobile.

Any bright ideas??

could you pushthe beds together? so its like a double bed

then put pilows downt he middle so the chidren dont roll into ecach other

Ha I like your thinking

May ruin the sleeping bag tho?

No the beds don't move they are totally fixed. Was thinking about maybe using the side of an old cot up against the bottom bunk. Don't know if it will fit or how I will attach it!!

yes thats a good idea
you could buy some brackets from b&q

how about 4 year old in top bunk, and cobble together a lee-cloth, like the ones used on sailing boats, to stop him fallin out.

then 2 year old on bootom bunk, and baby on bottom bunk with similar lee-cloth, which can be fixed ot top bunk above to deter any climbing out.

OR baby can go in a travel cot like this fixed to bottom bunk using bungee cords (we did similar for dd1 when she was younger)

Yup will try that but I will be back if it doesn't work so keep thinking

Silverfrog- we are so annoyed cos we just sold a little life tent on ebay cos we thought Robyn had outgrown it and we wouldn't need it again!!

Take the 2 mattresses off the top bunks and lay them one on top off the other between the 2 bottom bunk making a triple bed for all 3 kids.

skramble · 14/03/2009 23:27

Put a cot mattress on the floor under the adult double bed, with the head sticking out, baby is close to you and out of older kids way, just remember baby is there if you get up in the night.

Or look at fashioning temporary cot sides to attach on one bottom of bunk, other two got either end of the other bottom bunk.

You can't take the mattresses off- they are built in to the seats.

I think I have found a travel cot that fits in between the two seats/beds. It's the graco petite bassinette. YAY!
