going next week with DS (will be 3 in june) and nephew (same age). we are going by eurostar, and I was wondering how long a walk it is from the station to the park?

also, will I need to book in advance for cafe mickey, and is it worth the cost?

any other tips and recommendations?

thanks in advance!

one day? paff. not enough.

peter pan's flight
pirates of the carribbean
if he likes roller coasters, then Thunder Mountain is very exciting without being stomach churningly scary
If he likes churningly scary, Indianan Jones and Space Mission both have loop the loops.
phantom manor - cool
there's a car thing (Auto-something) which we didn;'t have time for but it looked like great fun. You drive your own car around.Big queues, no fast pass.
Buzz lightyears's lazer zapp thing was fun. Big appeal for 8 yr old boys I'd've thought.
The dragon under the castle

For a walkabout/runabout, swiss family robinson treehouse and Skull Rock area in Adventureland.

The Pinocchio and Snow White rides are quite fun, gentle but lovely scenes.

What to miss: honey I shrank the audience (YAAWWNN), Alladin's passage is so rubbish.

NO one's mentioned the Buzz Lightyear ride yet - that was DS's favourite and it has a fastpass facility. I loved the Peter Pan ride but DS didn't...The train ride right around the park is a great way of seeing it all.

The parade is great fun and everyone is right about the cynicism melting away; it totally won me over and I was very sceptical before we went.

One day? With 8yo? Definitely not enough but

  • Buzz Lightyear, for sure. Several times, queues allowing
  • The new Stitch thing in Studios & probably Crush's coaster as well
  • maybe the Hollywood Towers Hotel - depends how brave your 8yo is
  • he has to see one parade
  • Thunder Mountain
  • Autopia, maybe
  • Pirates of the Carribean
  • go and see the dragon under the castle on your way somewhere

I hope it is a long day!

Thanks for the tips for my boy. I just think I'm going to spend a lot of time sat there whilst DS and DH go on all these rides. They make me dizzy, I'm such a wuss.

pointydog · 07/03/2009 11:38

there are loads of gentle rides.

you can go on the flying dumbos and the revolving tea cups

You can just walk around and look at th e details
