As usual - the people with the 'darling children' are lying!

I've travelled with my daughter (3 and half at the time) to Germany, the only helps are the usual - try and get them to sleep on the plane, carrying lots of snacks (crackers, biscuits, drinks etc.), carrying lots of 'activities' which they haven't seen before (Aquadraw is good for planes as no messy pens, but the air-conditioning dries the picture so quickly that they have to colour it really quickly), colouring books, stories, etc.

Am not surprised about the lack of sleep - v. exciting for children.
I wouldn't worry to much about him being spoilt - presumably it's only for a short time, once you get him home you'll have a transition period when you'll have to be strict with your own rules, but while you're on holiday, try not to stress about it.

Why not leave him with your dad for the day while you go and take a walk in the park or go shopping? If he thinks he can do so much better...
