taking dd to florida next month when she'll be nine months old - am looking forward to it (nice hotel near beach on quays etc) but wondered its first time we've taken her long haul/ to the sun so any tips appreciated esp on jet lag.

Also what are the current rules on taking baby food /milk through (I know about restrictions going airside here) - are they super strict about taking cartons of milk, baby food etc through customs? I'm just concerned we get there late pm and not sure I want to play find the babyfood/milk as soon as we get there. Also what kind of brands/formula do you get in US ?

No astounding advice I'm afraid - plenty of cool clothes, hats and sunscreen. You will of course be able to pick up anything you forget. Not sure about handluggage but you should be ok with any food in your checked baggage. I've always taken stuff over - I think it's just fresh stuff you need to be worried about.

Never really had much of a problem with jetlag either - when you're going over there it will just be a case of keeping her up longer than usual. Normally let DD sleep for an hour or so when she wants to and then get her up again, which she never seems to mind.

I seem to remember Florida is pretty baby friendly - I think it's state law that all cafes/restaurants have to have highchairs and you can probably find anything you might have forgotten or decide that you need at Walmart.
