YG, I think carjet is connected to the Europa one I mentioned before - but it doesn't seem to have Alvor either. It has airports though, aren't you flying in?

Ford Focus should do it - or Focus estate - has huge luggage space. High season only £111 a week for hatchback, £131 for estate. Are you taking your own car seats? This lot do supply them but I don't know how good they are.

oops, no Focuses at Faro! Hang on a sec!

Portugal's dearer than Spain

Peugeot 206 estate £189 - Megane 5-door £197. Fiat Stilo £159 but I don't know how big they are.

This page has the available cars. You could fit the car seats in a smaller car I suppose but you don't want a really small one with your buggy, do you?

just out of interest, how do you take baby/child seats abroad? do you check them in as excess luggage?

I always took mine with me, no problems, though with some airlines they make you take it to the "outsize" checkin.

However; I would have thought the hire car company should provide car seats (you give weight /height of child) Portugal's new highway code (introduced two weeks ago) means the police can fine you for not having the appropriate child seat.

thanks for replies; might be worth taking our own if they can be checked in as i think there has been a documentry on recently about poor quality or badly fitting car seats abroad.
