Will be going to the Gold Coast (our first trip to Australia ever!) in March for 7 days with dh and dd, 5. Any tips of where to go-theme/ wildlife parks, good restaurants, where to shop?

Also, wd it be feasible to go to Sydney for maybe 3 days? Or would it be too rushed?

tia for any advance!

What part of the Gold Coast will you be visiting?.

The Duck tour that operates out of Surfers Paradise is well worth going on.

There's also the wildlife park/sanctuary down at Currumbin.

Not really feasible to go to Sydney as well unless you fly there from Coolangatta airport (this is the airport that serves the Gold Coast). Three days out of seven as well will eat into your holiday time and it may feel rushed.

Thanks Attila!
We will be at Surfers Paradise. Yes yes I hear its glitzy, but too late! It's been booked lol. Have no idea what to expect as it's the first time we r going to Australia.

Great, will check out the duck tours! is it like the amphibious duck boat in singapore? that went down well with dd, when she was 3. she loved it, and still talks abt it!

will deffo check out the wildlife park in currumbin.

hmmm yes....probably rushed. was feeling very ambitious. sigh.

any more tips anybody?!
thanks

Yes it's just like the Duck Tour boat in Singapore. Good fun for all, do book in advance though because it is v popular. Captain let all the children "drive" the boat!.

Another place you may want to visit is the Sea World park north of Surfers at Mainbeach.

thanks lillypie, will check those out!

yay, she'll love that...drive the boat? my goodness...
thanks attila!

my ds's are 9 and 4. we're planning on movieworld and seaworld in April, recommendations from friends who have been with similar age children, Not sure if that is what you are looking for.

hazlinh · 18/02/2009 11:40

that sounds good sibble. there r soo many theme parks in gold coast tho, was not sure if any were particularly better than the rest...

and was looking for somewhere to go to that would have kangaroos and other native australian animals for dd to pet or feed...

also, is there anywhere that we can go crab-fishing or something like that? i'd heard abt it, but couldn't find out where it was.

also, is it worth a trip to go and see tambourine mountain, or its worth skipping? and what really are the MUST-SEES at gold coast?

tks!

They are next to each other and about twenty minutes north of Surfer's Paradise. Just google Outback Spectacular on google.com.au and all the info is there.

Update:

Went to Movieworld, Seaworld and Dreamworld which were fantastic!

Also went to Currumbin which was very good! (went after 3pm, so we only paid half-price! woohoo)

In the end there were just too many things to do in the gold coast that we didn't have time to do it all. sigh
