Ideas for DH's 40th birthday

which is in July. Thinking of renting a house for the weekend with room for 20-25 people.

Does anyone know of any companies that rent houses. We would prefer to do the catering ourselves.

Otherwise does anyone have any other ideas of something fun that we can do. We live near Guildford and would have friends coming down from Suffolk/ Edinburgh so would want to do something more than just a meal.

Happy to rent the house withing three hour radius of Surrey.

Cliff Barns is very nice - it only sleeps 18 though so could you cut down your guests?

It looks lovely but we are after a house where we can do our own catering and that is nice but does not have to be anywhere as smart as Cliff Barns.
There must be organisations where people rent out their houses if they are not using them but I do not know where to look

You can rent a whole Youth Hostel!

We've booked Bindon House in Somerset (probably just on the edge of your 3-hour radius), www.bindon.com. Sleeps 25. We went to see it and it's really nice. You can choose self catering or to have a chef come in - and waiting staff as and when required, they are really flexible (we are doing the catering ourselves but have a catered dinner on the sat night)
They also recommend a company that offers laser shooting, archery etc.

agree - there are some pretty nice youth hostels that cater for this many - you may even have the place to yourselves.
