Has anyone been to Slovakia on Holiday?

We have been invited to a wedding there in July & were hoping to make it a long week-end not costing too much. I've just started looking up prices & am shocked at how much the flights alone are coming out at anyone an expert at finding cheap flights & hotels as I haven't a clue

My parents went to Slovakia on holiday a couple of years ago.
I think that accommodation is very cheap providing you stay outside of the main cities, i.e. Bratislava and Kosice and don't stay in the international hotel chains.

They stayed in small towns and said the hotels were fantastic and they all had staff who spoke English.

Have you looked at Sky Europe for flights? They often have special offers.

It's Bratislava we are going to might have a look at the map for a town not too far away, see if we can save some money.

Dh is in Bratislava this week - went from Luton with SkyEurope and his flight was 198 Euros (though I guess he probably only booked it 3 hours before leaving).

198 euros I am just going to have to keep on looking & hope the prices come down.

Dh just phoned me - his plane (5pm) is delayed - no time given yet and he says SkyEurope is his least favourite airline. Apparently last time his luggage took 90 mins to arrive at Luton.
Czech airlines (czechairlines.com) also fly there apparently, and Bratislava is only about 40 km/miles (wasn't listening!) from Vienna - may be more choice of cheap flights to Vienna? He says there's a bus service.
