Help me find somewhere for my honeymoon

Ladies I need your help as dp has declared that it is entirely up to me where we go - ie I have to go away and do all the research to find somewhere and book it and then he can moan about it when we get there

We will be taking dd who will be 18months at the time so ideally looking for
-somewhere with a pool
-beach nearby
-not a very busy resort
-preferably somewhere without the euro so we can afford to eat when we get there but not too far - the thought of long haul with toddler gives me the fear (I am thinking Croatia or Turkey)
-we have been given £1000 towards it by pil and are hoping that will cover the majority of the holiday
-departing from either Edinburgh/Cardiff

Essentially I'm looking for somewhere which will be good for dd and we can get some sun and have a nice meal and a glass of vino in the evening.

Where should we go?

We went to Turunc in Turkey for our honeymoon and had a wonderful time . It is in a bay with hills around so although we were married 10 yrs ago , I doubt it has changed too much . The people were the friendliest I have ever met and the area was stunning . Marmaris is a boat ride away but I would steer clear of the place .

We stayed in a small family run place with no pool but we had use of a pool . There is a big hotel at the end of the village but everyone I spoke to thought it was a grim place that served school dinners (although hopefully that has changed now )

It was a good base and we went on a few trips while there . I would definetly go back again .

The resteraunts were lovely as well and just had a couple of quiet bars .

The southern part of Croatia is very beautiful, you could go to one of the islands off the coast there. The only thing is iirc most of the beaches are pebbly not sandy, which might bother you (or might not, my ds loves a pebbly beach and a bucket)

Thanks ladies - names of regions are good. Don't want to turn up and be in the middle of the biggest resort in the country, woken up by drunken clubbers at 5am - did that 10 years ago, now want peace......and wine.

Not bothered by pebbles, at least they can't get into eyes, up noses, into sandwiches etc.

Have fond memories of Turkey as a child but at that point we were in the only 'big' hotel in Bodrum - think things have changed somewhat since then! Croatia also looks good though and I know my grandparents went literally every year when it was still Yugoslavia.

Croatia is fantastic, but the south is much nicer than the north. Also, do get to the islands, because it's long and thin the mainland beaches have a big road running very near them. Stunning driving, but my recollection is that teh beaches on hte islands are better. I would really recommend a night or two in Dubrovnik if you do decide to go there. It's really beautiful. Great seafood everywhere you go too.
