Fancy a week in the Canaries in January, but which island should we chose?

Will be me (5 months pg), DH and DD, who is 2.8

Want villa with a pool, beach and restaurants/shops. Really don't care if there is nothing much to do.

Want to avoid anything too resorty/English Breakfast-y.

Where should we be looking?

Try Lanzarote-- Puerto Del Carmen/Playa de los Pocillos/Matagorda...they are all along the same coast but not far from each other and there is a nice promenade the whole way along. Family friendly and really near the airport, usually no more than 15 to 20 mins transfer...great if you are dealing with a child who is getting bored after a long flight.

I agree with Lanzarote but think that the Playa Blanca resort is so much nicer personally. I find Puerto Del carmen a bit mass market but it's only my opinion. Google villas for rent, there are plenty in the resort with pools.

We have booked with these people for the last two years, and they were fantastic. We have had villas on Parque del Rey,which is about a fifteen minute walk from the main drag. Pool was always warm, accomodation was lovely, clean and in a quiet location. Would quite like to go back again this year but too preggers to fly! Playa Blanca really nice and family orientated - no loud bars, nightclubs, and loads of restaurants to chose from - all very family friendly (even when DS was rubbing spag bol into their pristine white tablecloths!)
