My dh is 40 next summer and we would like to have an oversees holiday with ds age 5 and dd age 3. We've not been out of the UK for a very long time so don't know where to start. We would like somewhere hot but not too hot, a beach but near something or somewhere interesting to explore - ideas please?

Maderia is very nice, I'd try and stay 3/4 hours away as it gets a bit stressful at that age any further.
When you say summer, when exactly did you have in mind ?

Hi - the summer holidays so mid July to the end of August. I don't know anything about Madeira - I'll do some research - thank you

Hi mumjoanne

We went to St Kitts, lovely Caribbean island + direct flights with BA was a bonus

Very romantic for us plus kids loved it, and we stayed at an amazing new villa right on the beach

Milford Mum - I noticed Turtle Beach on the Babyfriendly Boltholes website. Looks lovely - any tips? And was the babysitter as good as their site suggests? Thanks v.much

My dh wants to go to Hong Kong for his 40th and I want to go to Australia. Our children will be a lot older than yours by the time we're 40 though.
