double buggy / carrier / make her walk? mumsnet help required!

I hope this is the right place to post?
I am going on holiday to New York in 10days. We plan to be doing quite a bit of walking / sight seeing etc. I have a 15 month old and a three year old. Obviously the three year old walks almost everywhere these days but I am trying to think of a pushing or carrying solution so she can have rest from walking if she gets too tired?

Any bright ideas? I don't want to spend a fortune - the holiday has cost enough! but I really want the children to have as happy a time as possible and us too!

My youngest is 15 months although small for his age and gets quite restless and grumpy in his buggy (quinny zapp) even at the best of times.

So what buggy or what ever do you think - I did buy a soft carrier (patapum toddler) so that I could use the quinny or carrier for either of them but the youngest absolutely hated it so sold it.

So what's the solution mumsnetters (apart from leave them behind lol) Thanks in advance

could you borrow a double stroller from anyone? The worst thing i can think of on hols is struggling with tired children and especially with jet lag etc it is prob more likely?
Dosnt the quinney zapp fold up quite small. You could use a basic holiday buggy/stroller and keep the zapp underneath for dp to push if you neeed 2 (assuming you are going with dp!)

Hmmm zapp does fold small but don't think it would fit in basket of any buggy, certainly not either of the double buggies I own!

Do you know anyone you can borrow either a back carrier from, or a double buggy from?

I went to NYC and the walking was immense! I was shattered. I think you would definitely benefit from having a seat available for your 3 year old.

Will have a think of a better solution for you.

You can spend your time on ebay looking for things like this and pray you find one near you?

Is there more than one adult going? If so maybe you could buy a cheap umbrella fold single for your daughter when you get there and push one buggy each.

Agree if more than one adult is going I'd get a cheap umbrella stroller, you get something for about £40 would that be any use?

Plus singles are easier in shops.

Might be better getting a new pushchair for your son if he doesn't like the Zapp.

My h is coming too yes so two buggies an option. I don't think it is the zapp he hates really - just any buggy when we stop moving!
