Help! We have a little Houdini who keeps escaping her car seat

My 17 month old keeps slipping her arms out of her front facing car seat. There used to be a gadget called a Hug It on the market to stop her doing it. But they are no longer produced. Has anyone else got any ideas on how I can stop her? I have tried doing her coat up over the top of the straps but is only partially works. She really is a Houdini and is making travel, even on the school run, really difficult.

Hi, my 2 yo DS does this, and I now have no choice but to leave his arms free.
(His waist is strapped) I don't know what to do about it either, will be watching.

I leave my 2 year old arms free, could not think of a solution. Any ideas appreciated!!

what about a snug-fitting fleece or jumper over the top, rather than coat?

mine never did this, but a friends did,and the coat over the top of the straps did the trick, but i can see you've tried that...

good luck! (what about diversionary tactics, like a game kept in the car? a pretend steering wheel, or is she too young for that?)

I did consider getting a fleece and cutting holes for straps to go through but arms still inside it so they cant slip straps off would have to remove arms from fleece as well iykwim.
